Privacy Policy
Soul is a minimal, privacy‑first notes app. We designed it to be local‑first with end‑to‑end encryption (E2EE) so your notes remain unreadable to us.
What we collect
- Account & license (if applicable): email address for license delivery and support.
- Payment: processed by our payment provider; we never store full card details.
- Diagnostics (optional): anonymized crash logs and performance metrics if you opt in.
- Support messages: what you send us via email or forms.
What we do not collect
- Note contents: encrypted on your device before sync; we cannot read them.
- Advertising identifiers: we don’t run ads and don’t sell data.
Extension permissions
The Chrome extension requests only the minimum it needs:
storage
— store encrypted settings/keys locally.identity
(if used) — authenticate you with the sync service.activeTab
(if used) — run only when you invoke Soul actions.
We do not collect browsing history or page content beyond what is strictly necessary for the feature you trigger, and any synced data is encrypted end‑to‑end.
Data handling & retention
- Sync: encrypted blobs are stored on our sync service. Only your key can decrypt them.
- Retention: account/transaction records are retained as required for legal/accounting; support emails are kept for troubleshooting then deleted on request.
Data sharing
We share data only with subprocessors essential to operate Soul (e.g., payments, hosting). They process data under contractual obligations and never for advertising.
Your rights
- Access/Export your data
- Request deletion (see Data Deletion)
- Opt out of diagnostics at any time
Children
Soul is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us to delete it.
